Britt Pheiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn’t prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.
Britt is forced to guide the men off the mountain, and knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there…and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.
But nothing is as it seems, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?
First, I have no idea what this book is and I bought it just because it was on sale. Second, I have no idea how brutal yet awesome this book turned out!
Black Ice is a story of a girl named Britt who got dumped by her boyfriend. She thought she would prove her dad, her brother, and to her ex boyfriend that she can handle herself. Her best friend, Korbie, Calvin’s (Britt’s ex) younger sister, went backpacking with Britt on the mountain. They planned to stay on Idlewilde, but things did not go as well as they had planned.
On their way up to the mountain, Britt’s Jeep Wrangler was stuck on the pile of snow so they have to halt and wait. The girls had a fight and had no choice but to leave the Wrangler to look for a shelter that could give them warmth. Luckily, they did. In the cottage, two men stood on the door. The other man, Shaun, showed kindness and welcomed them wholeheartedly, while the other man, Mason, was not happy to see the girls in. Britt have met Mason (or is it really “Mason?”) earlier before they backpack.
Dragged by Shaun’s kindness, they did not expect something horrible coming. They were criminals, chased by the police and were stuck in the snow too.
Shaun and Mason left Korbie in the cottage as Britt helped them escape. Eventually, Mason was shot by no other than Britt’s ex-boyfriend. Mason suspected something.
After several days of freezing and escaping, the events have turned and the real killer was exposed. Who was it? You have to read to find out.
It’s a mixture of mystery, thriller, and romance. This book taught me how trusting easily can be dangerous. Choose wisely who you trust.
Let’s talk about Black Ice! YAAAAAAY! I’ve finished this for 2 days. Write in the comments below how long did it took for you to finish this book?
